Interaction Details
Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate, Phenobarbital is classified as belonging to the following category: Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP2D6 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's crucial to highlight that, as of now, there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.
Interaction Rating
Likelihood of Occurrence
UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
Pharmacist Analysis
It is unlikely that grape seed extracts have a clinically significant interaction with drugs that are metabolized by CYP2D6. This effect has only been seen in lab studies and has not been seen in human ones.
Nevertheless, it may be worthwhile to know if the drug you are taking (such as the one in this interaction detail page) is metabolized by CYP2D6 and monitor yourself accordingly.
