Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) + Eprosartan
Eprosartan brand name: Teveten.
We found no known interaction between Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) and Eprosartan in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) and Eprosartan
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Eprosartan and Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) at all — not against Eprosartan, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Eprosartan Is Prescribed For, and What Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) Has Been Studied For
These two come up together because they touch the same health topic — not because they do the same job. Eprosartan is a prescription medicine with approved uses on its FDA label. Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) is a supplement: what follows is what researchers have looked at it for, and how strong that evidence is.
Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) has been studied for:
-
Kidney failure studied, not established Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) has been studied for this. Natural Medicines rates the evidence: Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate Read what the research shows
Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) for kidney failure
It is unclear if oral HMB reduces the incidence of complications in patients with kidney failure receiving maintenance hemodialysis.
Effectiveness ratings and the research summaries above are the verbatim record from the Natural Medicines database, which grades evidence from “Effective” down to “Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate”. A rating below the top of that scale means researchers have looked at it — not that it works, and never that it can stand in for a prescribed medicine. Do not stop or replace Eprosartan on your own; if you are taking Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) for the same health topic, tell your prescriber, especially if the medicine is being adjusted to a target.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Eprosartan
This page covers Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Eprosartan page lists 138 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), American Hellebore (major), American Mistletoe (major), Tyramine (major) and Adrafinil (moderate).
By severity: 4 major · 112 moderate · 22 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Eprosartan page
“Activated charcoal deserves the first look from anyone taking eprosartan (Teveten) for blood pressure, because it can soak up the medicine in the gut and leave less of your dose to do its job. It is one of four major-rated entries among the 138 supplements and herbs on this page, enough to warrant real wariness rather than a shrug.”

Where Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) and Eprosartan Sit Against Everything Else
Out of every supplement and medication people look up on HelloPharmacist, here is where these two land this week — and which way each has been moving.
#1,250 of 1,452 supplements looked up here in the last 7 days
#329 of 2,830 medications looked up here in the last 7 days
Position among everything looked up on this site, not a measure of how commonly either one is used or how important it is. A supplement can climb this list because of a news story. It counts every request to the page, automated ones included, and nothing here identifies anyone.
Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.

- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified September 13, 2026. The Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) and Eprosartan records this page draws on were last updated July 10, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb)
What is Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb)?
- Building or preserving muscle mass
- Improving strength with resistance training
- Reducing muscle breakdown
- Supporting recovery after exercise
- Preventing muscle loss in older adults or illness
HMB is a compound made in the body from the amino acid leucine and is sold as a supplement mainly to support muscle. The best evidence suggests it may help slow muscle loss in certain situations, such as during illness, bed rest, or aging, but results in healthy athletes are mixed. It appears generally well tolerated for most adults, but you should check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
Not applicable (HMB is a metabolite of the amino acid leucine) · Capsules, tablets, powder, drink mixes; available as calcium-HMB (CaHMB) and free-acid HMB
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) record says about it on its own.
Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb): dosing
There is no single official dose of HMB, and the best amount depends on the goal and the person. Most research has used HMB taken in divided doses across the day, often alongside resistance training or protein intake. The two common forms are calcium-HMB and free-acid HMB, which may be absorbed differently.

About Eprosartan
What Is Eprosartan Used For?
Brand name: Teveten
-
Eprosartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Eprosartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of certain natural substances that tighten the blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
-
High blood pressure is a common condition, and when not treated it can cause damage to the brain, heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and other parts of the body. Damage to these organs may cause heart disease, a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, loss of vision, and other problems. In addition to taking medication, making lifestyle changes will also help to control your blood pressure. These changes include eating a diet that is low in fat and salt, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising at least 30 minutes most days, not smoking, and using alcohol in moderation.

Eprosartan Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Eprosartan as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Hydroxymethylbutyrate (hmb) — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
