About Peramivir Injection

What Is Peramivir Injection Used For?

Brand name: Rapivab

Rapivab (peramivir injection) is used to treat acute uncomplicated influenza — the flu — in adults and children as young as 6 months old. It must be started within 2 days of when symptoms first appear to be effective.

Most of the clinical trial evidence comes from patients with influenza A. Fewer patients with influenza B were studied, so effectiveness against influenza B is less certain. Rapivab has not been shown to work for serious influenza requiring hospitalization, and it does not treat bacterial infections.
