Drug & supplement interaction

Indian Gooseberry + Omalizumab

Omalizumab brand name: Xolair.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Indian Gooseberry and Omalizumab in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Indian Gooseberry and Omalizumab

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Omalizumab and Indian Gooseberry in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Indian Gooseberry safety at a glance

Indian Gooseberry overall Use caution Generally well tolerated as a food, but supplement safety is less studied.
Pregnancy Avoid Not enough safety data for supplement doses, so it is best to avoid.
Breastfeeding Avoid There is too little reliable safety information during breastfeeding.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Omalizumab

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Omalizumab is filed under a single classification — immunosuppressants. Indian Gooseberry has documented interactions with 4 drug classes — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate), antidiabetes drugs (moderate) and aspirin (moderate) — and none of Omalizumab’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Indian Gooseberry and Omalizumab May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

About Indian Gooseberry

What is Indian Gooseberry?

Indian Gooseberry
  • Antioxidant support
  • Cholesterol and heart health
  • Immune support
  • Digestive health
  • Skin and hair care

Indian gooseberry (amla) is a vitamin C-rich fruit used in Ayurvedic medicine for many purposes, from antioxidant support to cholesterol and digestion. Early research is promising for some uses like cholesterol, but most claims are not yet proven by strong human studies. It is generally well tolerated as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated supplements.

Phyllanthus emblica · Phyllanthaceae · Fruit (sometimes seeds, leaves, and bark) · Capsules, tablets, powder, juice, dried fruit, and extracts

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Indian Gooseberry is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Indian Gooseberry record says about it on its own.

Indian Gooseberry: dosing

There is no official, standardized dose of Indian gooseberry. The right amount depends on the product, whether it is a juice, powder, or extract, and how concentrated it is.Because doses vary so much between products, the safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label. They can help you decide whether it is appropriate for you.

About Omalizumab Injection

What Is Omalizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Xolair

Xolair is used for several allergy-driven conditions. It treats moderate to severe persistent asthma in adults and children 6 and older whose symptoms aren't controlled by inhaled steroids alone and who test positive for a year-round airborne allergen. It is also used as an add-on maintenance treatment for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ongoing sinus inflammation with polyp growths) in adults 18 and older who haven't responded well to nasal corticosteroids.

Xolair is also approved to reduce allergic reactions — including anaphylaxis — from accidental food exposure in adults and children aged 1 and older with IgE-mediated food allergy. It must be used alongside strict food avoidance, and it is not a substitute for emergency treatment like epinephrine. Finally, Xolair treats chronic spontaneous urticaria (persistent hives with no identified trigger) in adults and adolescents 12 and older who still have symptoms despite antihistamine treatment.
