Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Indian Snakeroot interacts with.

Theoretically, Indian snakeroot might inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes and reduce the metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates.
Indian snakeroot contains small amounts of the drug yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity.

Here's the deal with Auvelity. It pairs dextromethorphan with bupropion, and the bupropion part is there on purpose to slow down the breakdown of dextromethorphan through a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. That keeps dextromethorphan levels higher so it can work in the brain. Indian snakeroot may also block that same enzyme (based only on early lab research, not human studies), so in theory it could push dextromethorphan levels up even more.

If that happened, you might feel more dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, or jitteriness. On top of that, snakeroot lowers blood pressure on its own, which could add up. This is a weak, theoretical concern, but please don't combine them without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.
