Ornithine and Metoclopramide Hydrochloride

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Metoclopramide Hydrochloride and Ornithine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Ornithine at all — not against Metoclopramide Hydrochloride, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Metoclopramide Hydrochloride. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 76,710 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Metoclopramide Hydrochloride that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Ornithine’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Ornithine side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Ornithine has no side effects.

About Ornithine

What is Ornithine?

  • Athletic performance and recovery
  • Reducing fatigue
  • Sleep and stress support
  • Liver and ammonia metabolism support
  • Wound healing

Ornithine is a non-essential amino acid your body makes naturally as part of the urea cycle, which helps remove ammonia. It is sold as a supplement for fatigue, exercise recovery, and sleep, but human evidence is limited and mixed. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a medical condition.

Amino acid (not a plant part) · Capsules, tablets, powder, often as L-ornithine or ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate (OKG)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Ornithine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Ornithine record says about it on its own.

Ornithine: dosing

There is no official, standardized dose of ornithine for any supplement use. Amounts used in studies have varied widely, and there is not enough strong evidence to recommend a specific dose. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them.

About Metoclopramide Nasal Spray

What Is Metoclopramide Nasal Spray Used For?

Brand name: Gimoti

Gimoti (metoclopramide nasal spray) is approved for adults with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis — a condition where diabetes damages the nerves controlling stomach emptying, causing nausea, vomiting, and bloating. It works to relieve those symptoms by helping the stomach empty more normally.

Gimoti is not recommended for children, or for adults with moderate to severe kidney or liver disease. It is also not recommended for adults taking strong CYP2D6 inhibitor medications (certain antidepressants and other drugs that slow how the body breaks down metoclopramide).
