Paleo Diet + Felbamate
Felbamate brand name: Felbatol.
We found no known interaction between Paleo Diet and Felbamate in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Paleo Diet and Felbamate
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Felbamate and Paleo Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Paleo Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Paleo Diet at all — not against Felbamate, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
Paleo Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Felbamate
This page covers Paleo Diet only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Felbamate page lists 172 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: 1,4-butanediol (major), Activated Charcoal (major), American Hellebore (major), Arsenic (major) and Beer (major).
By severity: 14 major · 141 moderate · 17 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Felbamate page
“Felbamate (Felbatol) is a seizure medicine usually reserved for epilepsy that other drugs have failed to control, in part because it can stress the liver on its own. That history is why its 172 supplement and herbal interactions deserve real vigilance, starting with the 14 rated major.”

Where Paleo Diet and Felbamate Sit Against Everything Else
Out of every supplement and medication people look up on HelloPharmacist, here is where these two land this week — and which way each has been moving.
#978 of 1,452 supplements looked up here in the last 7 days
#999 of 2,830 medications looked up here in the last 7 days
Position among everything looked up on this site, not a measure of how commonly either one is used or how important it is. A supplement can climb this list because of a news story. It counts every request to the page, automated ones included, and nothing here identifies anyone.
Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Paleo Diet reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified September 13, 2026. The Paleo Diet and Felbamate records this page draws on were last updated July 10, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Paleo Diet
What is Paleo Diet?
- Weight loss
- Better blood sugar control
- Heart health
- Reducing processed-food intake
- General wellness and energy
The Paleo diet is an eating pattern based on whole, minimally processed foods thought to resemble what early humans ate, while avoiding grains, legumes, dairy, and added sugar. Short-term studies suggest it may help with weight loss and some heart and blood-sugar markers, but long-term safety and benefits are not well proven. Talk with your doctor or a dietitian before making big diet changes, especially if you have a health condition.
Whole-food eating pattern (meats, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Paleo Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Paleo Diet record says about it on its own.
Paleo Diet: dosing
Because the Paleo diet is an eating pattern and not a supplement, there is no standard "dose." Instead, it is defined by which foods are included or avoided. If you want to try it, focus on whole foods like vegetables, fruits, lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts, and seeds, and limit processed foods and added sugar. Many people do not need to follow every strict rule to gain benefit from eating fewer processed foods. It is a good idea to work with a doctor or registered dietitian, who can help you plan balanced meals and decide whether a supplement (such as calcium or vitamin D) might be needed.

About Felbamate
What Is Felbamate Used For?
Brand name: Felbatol
Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.
In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.

Felbamate Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Felbamate as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Paleo Diet — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
