Volumetrics Diet and Sodium Oxybate

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Sodium Oxybate and Volumetrics Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Volumetrics Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Volumetrics Diet at all — not against Sodium Oxybate, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Volumetrics Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Volumetrics Diet’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Volumetrics Diet side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Volumetrics Diet has no side effects.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Sodium Oxybate

This page covers Volumetrics Diet only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Sodium Oxybate page lists 25 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Biofeedback (moderate), Coffee Charcoal (moderate), Dendrobium (moderate) and European Mandrake (moderate).

By severity: 1 major · 15 moderate · 9 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Sodium Oxybate page

“Activated charcoal is the single major-rated interaction with sodium oxybate (Xyrem), and it earns that rating because the drug only works if each dose is fully absorbed; charcoal can bind it in the gut and weaken the nighttime control it provides for narcolepsy. Treat this list with genuine care, since 17 of the 25 ingredients on file…”

About Volumetrics Diet

What is Volumetrics Diet?

  • Weight loss
  • Weight management
  • Feeling fuller on fewer calories
  • Healthier eating habits
  • Reducing overeating

The Volumetrics Diet is an eating plan, not an herb or supplement. It focuses on choosing foods that are low in calories but high in volume—like vegetables, fruits, broth-based soups, and lean proteins—so you feel full while eating fewer calories. It is generally considered a balanced, safe approach to weight management, but results depend on consistency, and you should talk with a doctor or dietitian before starting any weight-loss plan.

Eating plan / dietary pattern (not a pill or supplement)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Volumetrics Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Volumetrics Diet record says about it on its own.

Volumetrics Diet: dosing

There is no pill, capsule, or standardized "dose" for the Volumetrics Diet because it is an eating pattern, not a supplement.Instead of a dose, the plan guides you to build meals around low-energy-density foods, fill about half your plate with vegetables and fruit, and limit high-calorie foods. They can help you follow the approach safely and realistically.
