Watercress + Clonazepam
Clonazepam brand names: Klonopin, Rivotril, Ceberclon.
We found no known interaction between Watercress and Clonazepam in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Watercress and Clonazepam
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Clonazepam and Watercress in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.
Watercress safety at a glance
Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Clonazepam
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Clonazepam is filed under 5 classifications — including benzodiazepines, anticonvulsants, cns depressants. Watercress has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being chlorzoxazone (parafon forte, paraflex) (moderate), lithium (moderate) and warfarin (coumadin) (moderate) — and none of Clonazepam’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Watercress Does Interact With Other Medications
Watercress has 6 moderate known drug interactions in our database — Clonazepam isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

Questions About Watercress or Clonazepam
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Watercress or Clonazepam, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:
- Does Klonopin Work Faster If You Put It Under The Tongue? ›
- Does Clonazepam Interact With Chlorophyll Supplements? ›
- Concerns Taking Prednisone With Other Drugs For Ménière's Disease ›
Not quite your question? Ask our pharmacists directly — it is free, there is no account required, and answers usually come back within 24 hours.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Clonazepam
This page covers Watercress only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Clonazepam page lists 206 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: 1,4-butanediol (major), Activated Charcoal (major), Beer (major), Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (ghb) (major) and Grapefruit (major).
By severity: 9 major · 158 moderate · 39 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clonazepam page
“Clonazepam (Klonopin) slows brain activity to control seizures and panic, and most of what interacts with it pushes in one of two directions: deepening that sedation or changing how much drug is in your blood. This is a list to approach carefully.”

Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Watercress reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified September 13, 2026. The Watercress and Clonazepam records this page draws on were last updated July 11, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Watercress
What is Watercress?
- Source of vitamins and minerals
- Antioxidant support
- General nutrition
- Traditional cough and congestion remedy
- Skin and detox tonics
Watercress is a nutrient-rich leafy green that provides vitamins A, C, and K plus minerals and antioxidant plant compounds. Eaten as a food it is generally safe and healthy for most people, but strong human evidence for concentrated supplement health claims is limited. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using high-dose extracts, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a medical condition.
Nasturtium officinale · Brassicaceae · Leaves and stems (above-ground parts) · Fresh leafy green, salad, juice, extract capsules, dried herb
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Watercress is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Watercress record says about it on its own.
Watercress: dosing
There is no official or standardized dose for watercress as a supplement. As a food, it is simply eaten in salads or cooked dishes in the amount you enjoy. For capsules, powders, or extracts, follow the directions on the product label, since strength varies between products. More is not always better, and concentrated extracts have not been well studied for safety.
From our Watercress monograph — the full record covers uses, side effects and every documented interaction.
About Clonazepam
What Is Clonazepam Used For?
Brand names: Klonopin, Rivotril, Ceberclon
Clonazepam is approved to treat several types of seizures — including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a severe form of epilepsy), akinetic seizures (sudden loss of muscle tone), myoclonic seizures (sudden muscle jerks), and absence seizures (brief lapses of awareness) in patients who haven't responded to other medicines.
It is also approved for panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia (fear of situations that might cause panic). Panic disorder involves repeated, unexpected panic attacks along with ongoing worry about having more attacks.
Most-Reported Side Effects for Clonazepam
From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (0 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.

Clonazepam Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Clonazepam as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Watercress — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
