Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic asafoetida powder extract, a resin traditionally used in herbal medicine. The liquid also includes vegetable palm glycerin and Hawaiian artesian water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We don't hold effectiveness ratings for asafoetida in our data, so we can't tell you what the evidence says it works for. If you're considering this for a specific health goal, your pharmacist can point you toward what research exists.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Asafoetida in food amounts appears to be generally well tolerated, but medicinal doses haven't been well studied. At higher doses, some people report belching, gas, diarrhea, headache, swelling of the lips, or in rare cases convulsions.
Doses of 50–100 mg have triggered headache or convulsions in some reports. There are also rare reports of a serious blood condition called methemoglobinemia in infants exposed to asafoetida, including one documented case in a 3-month-old.
Don't use medicinal amounts during pregnancy—the safety data advises against it. The same goes for breastfeeding; there isn't enough information to know it's safe at supplement doses, so skip it while nursing.

Asafoetida Non-Alcohol by Hawaii Pharm Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Hawaii Pharm's Asafoetida Non-Alcohol contains a single active ingredient—certified organic asafoetida powder extract—that interacts with two major drug categories.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). Asafoetida appears to lower blood pressure on its own, so taking it alongside drugs like captopril, enalapril, losartan, valsartan, or diltiazem could push your pressure too low.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The second documented interaction is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (anticoagulants/antiplatelets)—aspirin, clopidogrel, ibuprofen, naproxen, and injectable blood thinners like enoxaparin. Asafoetida may increase bleeding risk when combined with these.
Both interactions are rated Moderate severity.
Altogether, these interactions span 287 individual medications. If you're on any blood pressure drug or blood thinner, use the medication checker on this page with your exact prescriptions before you start.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, asafoetida might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs. Some anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Evidence from animal research suggests that asafoetida has hypotensive effects. Theoretically, concomitant use may increase therapeutic effects of antihypertensive therapy due to hypotensive activity of asafoetida. Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.
