Boron is likely effective for treating boron deficiency — a condition that shows up when your body doesn't have enough of this mineral. It's rated possibly effective for vaginal candidiasis (a yeast infection) and radiation dermatitis (skin damage from radiation therapy).

How safe is it?

At doses below 20 mg daily, boron is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects from oral use are loss of appetite, skin rash, redness, and indigestion.
Vaginal use may cause burning and pain. High doses or long-term use at very high levels can cause more serious problems — skin damage, hair loss, and in severe overdose, nausea, vomiting, and other serious symptoms.
Boron supplements are not advised in pregnancy; high amounts may be harmful to the fetus. While breastfeeding, skip boron supplements because there isn't enough safety data.
