Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Cauliflower product and its label doesn't state a use — see Cauliflower's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold does not establish that cauliflower powder is effective for any particular health condition. Studies looking at cauliflower and cancer prevention (bladder, breast, lung, prostate) and diabetes all show insufficient reliable evidence to draw a conclusion.

That doesn't mean it doesn't help — it means the research isn't solid enough yet for us to rate it.

How safe is it?

Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Cauliflower is safe and nutritious when eaten as a food. In pregnancy, eating cauliflower as a normal food is considered safe, though concentrated supplements haven't been well studied — talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant and thinking about a supplement form.

While breastfeeding, eating cauliflower is generally safe, though some parents notice it may make babies gassier. The product facts don't report any adverse effects from the powder itself.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Cauliflower.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 186 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Cauliflower powder may speed up the breakdown of medications metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP1A2, potentially lowering their blood levels and reducing how well they work. This is a Moderate-severity interaction.

Check with your pharmacist or doctor before using this powder if you take any prescription medications, and use the medication checker on this page to see if any of yours are on the list.

Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that eating cruciferous vegetables, including broccoli, cauliflower, daikon radish sprouts, and cabbage, can increase cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) activity by 14% to 27%. Theoretically, cauliflower might increase the clearance and decrease the effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2. Some drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 include clozapine (Clozaril), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), fluvoxamine (Luvox), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), mexiletine (Mexitil), olanzapine (Zyprexa), pentazocine (Talwin), propranolol (Inderal), tacrine (Cognex), theophylline, zileuton (Zyflo), zolmitriptan (Zomig), and others.

Yes. Based on its ingredients, Cauliflower Powder has a known interaction with 186 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Cauliflower Powder contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is cauliflower powder safe during pregnancy?
Eating cauliflower as a normal food is considered safe in pregnancy. However, concentrated supplements haven't been well studied, so there isn't enough data to know whether the powder form is safe during pregnancy. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Is it safe to take while breastfeeding?
Eating cauliflower is generally safe while breastfeeding. The one thing to know is that some parents notice it makes their babies gassier. If that becomes an issue, mention it to your pediatrician.
Will this powder help prevent cancer?
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that cauliflower powder prevents cancer — studies on bladder, breast, lung, and prostate cancer all show insufficient reliable evidence. That doesn't rule it out, but we can't confirm it works for that purpose based on current research.
What exactly is in this product?
It's just cauliflower powder — the whole vegetable dehydrated and ground. No extracts, no fillers, no other ingredients.
What are the main concerns I should know about?
The main concern is that cauliflower can speed up how your liver breaks down certain medications, potentially making them less effective. This affects a large number of drugs. Check the interaction tool on this page with your medication list, or ask your pharmacist to review it before you start.
