What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Cognizin, a branded form of citicoline. Citicoline is a compound your body makes naturally; it supports brain cell structure and energy.
The capsules also contain acacia gum and white rice flour as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The data shows citicoline is possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and glaucoma. For stroke, the evidence suggests it's likely ineffective.
For Alzheimer disease, traumatic brain injury, and cardiac arrest, the evidence isn't reliable enough yet to say whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Citicoline is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. A small number of trial participants reported abdominal pain, back pain, blurred vision, constipation, diarrhea, swelling, headache, insomnia, nausea, or rash.
Long-term safety hasn't been fully established. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know it's safe in those situations.
Meds to double-check

No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredient we could check. That said, run your full medication list through the tool on this page before you begin.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
If you're concerned about age-related memory loss or glaucoma and want evidence-based options, citicoline is worth discussing with your eye doctor or primary care provider. Steer clear during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
