What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients: cinnamon and chromium. Cinnamon (cassia) is included at 2000 mg per serving.
Chromium is a mineral your body needs in small amounts, particularly for how it handles blood sugar. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: cellulose, oat fiber, rice bran, magnesium silicate, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for cinnamon is not established in the data we hold — the studies don't provide enough reliable proof that it works for conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, diarrhea, or others listed. Chromium has a clearer picture: it's likely effective for chromium deficiency, possibly effective for diabetes, and possibly ineffective for prediabetes, schizophrenia, and high blood pressure.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cinnamon is generally safe in food amounts, but at supplement doses this high — especially over time — there's concern about liver stress from its coumarin content. During pregnancy, stick to food amounts and avoid concentrated supplement doses.
For chromium, supplement doses are usually well tolerated, but high or long-term use may carry risks. In pregnancy, small amounts from food or a prenatal vitamin are generally okay, but extra chromium supplements should only be taken on your doctor's advice.
The most common side effects from chromium are mild: stomach upset, headaches, insomnia, irritability, or mood changes. Rare serious effects include kidney or liver damage and blood disorders.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on diabetes medications (insulin or pills that lower blood sugar), levothyroxine (thyroid hormone), NSAIDs like ibuprofen, aspirin, or any drugs that can harm your liver.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take diabetes medications or thyroid hormone, or if you take NSAIDs or aspirin regularly, check with your pharmacist before starting this product. It's worth asking about whether the cinnamon dose is right for your liver health, especially if you plan to take it long-term.
For anyone else, it's generally well tolerated — just run your medications through the checker on this page first.

Cinnamon 2000 mg plus Chromium by 21st Century Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Cinnamon 2000 mg plus Chromium by 21st Century has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with antidiabetes drugs — both cinnamon and chromium may lower blood sugar levels and could have additive effects with diabetes medications like insulin or oral agents, potentially increasing the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Dose adjustments to your diabetes medication might be necessary.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chromium also interacts with levothyroxine (thyroid hormone; brand Synthroid), reducing how much your body absorbs — research shows a 17% decrease in blood levels when taken together. Additionally, both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and aspirin may increase how much chromium your body absorbs, which could raise chromium levels.
Cinnamon carries a separate concern: at high supplement doses, particularly over long periods, it contains coumarin, which may stress your liver, especially if you're also taking other drugs that can harm the liver (hepatotoxic drugs).
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. Altogether, these interactions span 524 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Cinnamon 2000 mg plus Chromium with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Cinnamon
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
