What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: D-mannose, a naturally occurring sugar. D-mannose is used to address certain genetic conditions affecting how the body processes proteins and carbohydrates.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose, rice powder, magnesium stearate, and silica — which are fillers and binders that have no active effect.
Does it work?
Leans against
The evidence for D-mannose is mixed. It's rated likely effective for carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b, a rare genetic disorder.
For urinary tract infections (UTIs), however, the data suggest it's possibly ineffective — meaning it hasn't shown reliable benefit for that use. If you're considering D-mannose for a UTI, talk with your doctor about what the evidence actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
D-mannose is generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety data are limited — so we don't know much about years of regular use. The most common side effects are bloating, diarrhea, and nausea.
Diarrhea is more likely at higher doses, especially above 200 mg per kilogram of body weight in a single dose. There isn't enough reliable data on safety during pregnancy, so it's best to avoid it in pregnancy unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Safety during breastfeeding is not well studied either, so caution is advised — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could check. That doesn't mean interactions don't exist — just that we have no documented ones on file.
If you take any regular medications, check them with your pharmacist or doctor before starting this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with graded evidence leaning against its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
D-mannose is likely effective for a specific genetic disorder but not reliably helpful for UTIs. It's generally well tolerated in the short term, though bloating, diarrhea, and nausea can occur.
Long-term safety data are sparse, and it's not well studied in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you're considering this product, especially during pregnancy or lactation, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist first.
