What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: D-mannose, a simple sugar. The capsule also holds several inactive ingredients — hypromellose, rice flour, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide — which are binders, fillers, and capsule material.
Does it work?
Leans against
The evidence for D-mannose is mixed. It's rated likely effective for carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b, a rare inherited metabolic disorder.
For urinary tract infections (UTIs), however, it's rated possibly ineffective — meaning the research doesn't show it works well for that common use. If you're thinking about this for a UTI, talk with your doctor about what the evidence actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
D-mannose is generally well tolerated over the short term, but long-term safety data are limited — so we don't have a lot of information on taking it for months or years. The most common side effects are bloating, diarrhea, and nausea.
Higher doses are more likely to cause osmotic diarrhea (loose stools from the sugar drawing water into your bowel). During pregnancy, there isn't enough reliable safety data, so it's best to avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Breastfeeding safety is not well studied, so caution is advised if you're nursing.

No interactions are documented in our data for D-mannose and the medications we checked. Still, run your exact prescriptions through the tool on this page or confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with graded evidence leaning against its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
D-mannose may help with a rare genetic disorder, but it's not proven for urinary tract infections — the reason most people buy it. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, the safety data aren't solid enough to recommend it without your doctor's input.

Formula
D-mannose is a naturally occurring simple sugar that your body utilizes to help cleanse the urinary tract and maintain a healthy bladder lining. It's metabolized only in small amounts, with excess amounts rapidly excreted in urine, so it wont interfere with healthy blood sugar regulation. Clinical studies have demonstrated that, when taken regularly, D-mannose promotes normal urinary tract function by cleansing and maintaining the health of the bladder lining.
