Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product has eight active ingredients, each a digestive enzyme that breaks down a specific part of your food. Lactase breaks down milk sugar (lactose), lipase handles fats, acid stable protease breaks down protein, and alpha-amylase, amyloglucosidase, cellulase, and hemicellulase work on carbohydrates and fiber.
The vegetal analog of pancreatin is a plant-based blend that mimics natural pancreatic enzymes. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose, calcium sulfate, stearic acid, colloidal silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate — which are fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance. However, the data we hold shows insufficient evidence to establish whether lactase helps with colic or prematurity.
For lipase and the other enzymes in this blend, the evidence we have is insufficient to rate their effectiveness for digestive conditions like indigestion (dyspepsia) or inflammatory bowel disease.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactase and lipase are generally well tolerated when used as directed. Acid stable protease is also generally well tolerated for most adults, though it may occasionally cause digestive upset or allergic reactions.
Rare allergic reactions to lactase and protease have been reported in workers exposed to powdered forms — if you have a known enzyme allergy, mention it to your pharmacist. Serious intestinal side effects have been reported only in premature infants given recombinant lipase products added to formula or breast milk, not in adults taking enzyme supplements.
For pregnancy, lactase is likely safe, but safety data is limited for lipase and protease — talk with your doctor before regular use in pregnancy. Limited data exists for all three during breastfeeding, so check with your healthcare provider first.
We could not find data for cellulase, hemicellulase, alpha-amylase, amyloglucosidase, or vegetal analog of pancreatin.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could check. If you take any medications, you can use the interaction checker on this page to confirm with your exact drugs — or ask your pharmacist to run through them with you.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This is an enzyme blend designed to help break down different components of food. It may be worth trying if you have trouble digesting lactose or want general digestive support, but the evidence for most of the enzymes here is limited.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a serious digestive condition, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
