Dismuzyme Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Progressive Professional from Progressive Laboratories
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Dismuzyme against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Dismuzyme by Progressive Professional from Progressive Laboratories
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Dismuzyme contains five active ingredients: chlorophyll, pea powder, lentil powder, super oxide dismutase, and millet powder. The product also includes rice flour, gelatin, and a vegetable lubricant as inactive ingredients (capsule material and binders).
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold rates chlorophyll's effectiveness for genital herpes, wound healing, herpes zoster (shingles), nonmelanoma skin cancer, and pancreatitis as insufficient—meaning there isn't enough reliable data to say whether it works for these uses. We have no effectiveness data on file for the other ingredients in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chlorophyll is generally well tolerated in short-term use, though high-quality long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effect from oral chlorophyll is photosensitization—increased sensitivity to sunlight.
Rarely, oral chlorophyll has been linked to pseudoporphyria, a condition causing blisters on the hands after minor trauma or sun exposure. The safety data advise against chlorophyll during pregnancy because there isn't enough reliable information.
During breastfeeding, safety is unknown, so avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise. We have no pregnancy or breastfeeding safety information on file for the other four ingredients.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dismuzyme if you use methotrexate (Trexall, others) or any photosensitizing drugs—medications that make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. Chlorophyll in this product may slow methotrexate clearance and may add to photosensitivity effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take methotrexate or any photosensitizing medication, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting Dismuzyme—the chlorophyll content may affect how your body handles these drugs. This product is not recommended during pregnancy, and you should check with your healthcare provider before using it while breastfeeding.
If you're on any other prescription medications, use the interaction checker on this page to confirm there are no conflicts.

Dismuzyme by Progressive Professional from Progressive Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Dismuzyme by Progressive Professional contains chlorophyll, which has documented interactions with certain medications.
The most serious concern is a Moderate interaction with methotrexate (Trexall, others)—a cancer and autoimmune medication—where chlorophyll may slow how your body clears the drug, potentially raising its levels to unsafe amounts. One case report documented delayed clearance of high-dose intravenous methotrexate when chlorophyll was taken at the same time; stopping chlorophyll two days before treatment restored normal clearance.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chlorophyll also carries a Moderate interaction with photosensitizing drugs (medications that increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight, such as certain antibiotics, NSAIDs, and diuretics). Taking chlorophyll alongside these drugs may add to that photosensitivity effect and theoretically increase the risk of sun-related skin damage, including a rare condition called pseudoporphyria—blistering of the hands after sun exposure.
We could not check three other ingredients in this product—pea powder, lentil powder, super oxide dismutase, and millet powder—because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 337 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to look up your specific drugs before you start.

For each ingredient in Dismuzyme with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chlorophyll
Methotrexate (Trexall, Others)
Theoretically, chlorophyll may reduce the clearance of methotrexate.
In one case report, a 54-year-old male developed delayed clearance of intravenous high-dose methotrexate with concomitant use of chlorophyll. When chlorophyll was stopped 2 days prior to methotrexate treatment, methotrexate clearance was unaffected.
Photosensitizing Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyll with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. In two case reports, pseudoporphyria developed after oral intake of chlorophyll. Theoretically, concomitant use with other photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate this effect.
