Fodzyme has three active ingredients. Lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose, the sugar in milk and dairy products.
The product also contains Alpha-Galactosidase and Fructan Hydrolase, both enzymes that work on different carbohydrates. The powder form also includes dextrin as an inactive ingredient.

Strong evidence
Lactase is effective for lactose intolerance — the main reason people use it. The evidence for using it in premature infants or to help with colic isn't strong enough yet to rate either way.

Lactase is generally well tolerated when you use it as directed. A rare case of allergic reaction (contact dermatitis and allergic rhinoconjunctivitis) was reported in a worker exposed to powdered lactase, but this was in an occupational setting with heavy exposure.
