What’s inside
Full disclosure
Fundamental Sulfur II contains two active ingredients: molybdenum and methylsulfonylmethane. Molybdenum is a mineral that plays a role in various enzyme functions in your body.
The product also contains several inactive ingredients—cellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, silica, and pharmaceutical glaze—which are binders and fillers that hold the tablet together.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Molybdenum is likely effective for molybdenum deficiency, though deficiency is rare in people eating a normal diet. For acne, iron deficiency anemia, asthma, osteoporosis, and esophageal cancer, there isn't enough reliable evidence to say whether molybdenum works.
We don't have effectiveness data on file for methylsulfonylmethane.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Molybdenum is generally well tolerated when taken in amounts that don't exceed 2 mg per day. High-dose supplements are rarely necessary and may cause problems.
One case report linked very high supplemental doses (300–800 micrograms daily over 18 days) to serious neurological effects including psychosis, seizures, and brain damage—though this is an extreme outlier. If you have a stainless steel angioplasty stent, talk with your cardiologist before taking molybdenum supplements, as contact allergy to the mineral may increase the risk of stent restenosis.
For pregnancy, molybdenum from food and prenatal vitamins is generally fine, but avoid high-dose supplements unless your doctor advises it. The safety data for methylsulfonylmethane in pregnancy and breastfeeding is not on file.
Meds to double-check

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Fundamental Sulfur II may be worth considering if you have molybdenum deficiency, though this is uncommon.
