Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: glycerol, a naturally derived compound used in supplements to support hydration and athletic performance. The rest of the powder is inactive ingredients — silicon dioxide, natural and artificial flavors, malic acid, citric acid, and sucralose — which are fillers, acids, and sweeteners that give the product its taste and texture.

Does it work?

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Athletic hydration and endurance support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Athletic performance, Exercise performance, Endurance, Hydration status.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Glycerol is rated "Possibly Effective" for Athletic performance (Natural Medicines).

Glycerol is likely effective for constipation and possibly effective for athletic performance and a skin condition called ichthyosis. The evidence we hold suggests it's possibly ineffective for meningitis, stroke, and prematurity complications.

For athletic performance specifically — the reason many people buy this product — glycerol shows possible effectiveness in our data.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Glycerol is generally well tolerated in normal amounts, but large oral doses can cause stomach upset and dehydration concerns. The most common side effects when taken by mouth are bloating, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and headache.

The safety data for medicinal doses is limited, so talk with your doctor before using larger amounts than you'd get from food. Pregnancy and lactation safety data isn't on file for glycerol — ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's right for you if you're pregnant or nursing.
