What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: guanabana fruit extract, a botanical compound from the graviola tree. There are no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that guanabana extract works for any condition. Studies have looked at it for HPV, headache, male infertility, and insect repellent use, but the evidence for all of these is insufficient to rate — meaning we don't have reliable data showing it's effective for any of them.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Regular use of guanabana appears to carry real risks. The most common side effects are stomach pain and nausea, but rare but serious concerns include movement disorders and nerve damage (myeloneuropathy) that resemble Parkinson disease.
One clinical study reported nausea and burning stomach pain in patients taking 300 mg daily. A large observational study also found that even small amounts of graviola consumption were linked to worsening motor and cognitive symptoms in people with Parkinson disease.
Guanabana is rated possibly unsafe during pregnancy and best avoided while breastfeeding because human safety data are too limited. Lab studies raise concerns about possible nerve toxicity with long-term use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take carbamazepine (Tegretol), do not use this product without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first — graviola may lower the medication's effectiveness.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
We can't recommend this product — the evidence doesn't show it works for anything, and safety data point to real risks of stomach upset and rare but serious nerve problems. If you take carbamazepine or any medication, or if you have Parkinson disease, talk with your pharmacist before considering it.
