Guggulu Powder contains one active ingredient: guggul, a resin extract from the commiphora tree traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. The powder also contains silicon dioxide as an inactive ingredient (a common anti-caking agent).

Not established
The evidence for guggul's effectiveness is limited. The research shows it is possibly ineffective for weight loss (obesity).
For acne, hemorrhoids, and high cholesterol, we hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate whether it works. That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the studies on file aren't strong enough yet to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Guggul is generally well tolerated, but digestive upset and skin reactions are common concerns. Most people who experience side effects report belching, bloating, diarrhea, headache, nausea, or an unpleasant taste.
Skin rashes and itching can occur, and the risk appears to increase with higher doses. A small number of people have had allergic reactions including facial swelling.
Rarely, a serious muscle-breakdown condition (rhabdomyolysis) has been reported. Guggul is not safe in pregnancy — the safety data advises against it because it may stimulate the uterus.
There isn't enough safety information for breastfeeding, so it's best avoided while nursing. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.

Organic ayurvedic herbs
Purified in a triphala decoction, guggulu resin (Commiphora mukul) is a penetrating herb that scrapes out naturally accumulating toxins from the body channels. It is renowned for its ability to carry other herbs with it deep into the tissues. Guggulu's powerful detoxifying and rejuvenating qualities are directed to specific systems of the body by the herbs that accompany it. As such, it is the basis for an entire class of traditional ayurvedic formulas known as guggulus. Its scraping action helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels already in the normal range.

Guggul might reduce the effects of diltiazem.
A small pharmacokinetic study shows that concomitant use of guggul with diltiazem reduces the bioavailability of diltiazem.
