Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: lavender herb extract, in a liquid form with glycerin and water as inactive ingredients. Lavender has been traditionally used to ease anxiety and promote relaxation.
The extract here is alcohol-free, so you're getting the herb's active compounds without the alcohol carrier.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence supporting lavender for specific uses is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for dysmenorrhea (period cramps).
For cancer-related pain, it's rated possibly ineffective. For alopecia areata (patchy hair loss), pre-procedural anxiety, and cancer-related fatigue, we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works or doesn't.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lavender is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth or applied to skin in typical amounts. The most common side effects reported in people taking it orally are breath odor, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, gas, headache, and nausea — usually mild and infrequent.
Topically, it can rarely trigger allergic skin reactions. There isn't enough reliable safety data for medicinal amounts, so use it only with your healthcare provider's approval.
Safety in pregnancy and lactation hasn't been well studied — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start this product, check with your pharmacist if you take any CNS depressants — that includes sleeping pills, sedatives, anti-anxiety medications, opioid pain relievers, or antihistamines that make you drowsy. Lavender may strengthen their effects and side effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Lavender Alcohol Free may help with period cramps, though the evidence for other uses isn't clear yet. If you take sedating medications or supplements, check with your pharmacist before adding this — the combination could amplify drowsiness or other side effects.
It's generally well tolerated, but talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure it fits your health picture.

Lavender Herb Extract, Dry
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, lavender might potentiate the therapeutic effects and adverse effects of CNS depressants.
Laboratory research suggests that lavender has sedative effects. However, clinical studies in patients taking oral lavender oil (Silexan) 160 mg for 10 weeks or taking lavender flower powder 1 gram daily for 2 months have not reported side effects of drowsiness, sedation, or sleepiness. There is still some concern that higher doses or different preparations of lavender might have additive effects with CNS depressant medications.
