What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: marshmallow powder. Marshmallow is an herb traditionally used to support various health concerns, though the evidence for many of its uses isn't well established yet.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this powder.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that marshmallow leaf is effective for any of the conditions studied — including vaginal yeast infections, diarrhea, venous leg ulcers, eczema, or respiratory infections. That doesn't mean it won't help, just that the reliable evidence isn't there yet.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Marshmallow is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but human safety data are limited, so long-term safety isn't well understood. The safety data we hold advises against using it during pregnancy and while breastfeeding — there isn't enough reliable information to know it's safe in those situations.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to be.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take lithium, this product may affect your levels — your doctor may need to adjust your dose. Also double-check any oral medications you take by mouth; spacing them out from this powder by 30 to 60 minutes will help prevent absorption problems.
The interaction data we have covers these main categories, but check your exact medications to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Marshmallow Leaf Powder is a single-herb supplement with limited evidence for its effectiveness and limited safety data overall. The main interaction watch is lithium — if you take that, your dose may need adjustment.
If you take other oral medications, space out the timing to avoid absorption problems. Before you start, run your full medication list through the interaction checker on this page and talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist.

Marshmallow, Powder monograph & interactionsMarshmallow Leaf Powder by TerraVita Premium Collection Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Marshmallow Leaf Powder by TerraVita Premium Collection does interact with some medications, mainly through its potential diuretic effects and its mucilage content.
The most serious concern is with lithium — marshmallow's diuretic properties may reduce how your body clears lithium, which could raise lithium levels to toxic amounts.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Marshmallow also contains mucilage, a thick, sticky substance that can interfere with how your body absorbs oral medications taken by mouth. This is a minor interaction, but it's easily avoided by taking marshmallow 30 to 60 minutes after your other drugs.
Additionally, animal research hints that marshmallow flower may have antiplatelet effects (affecting blood clotting), though the leaf and root — the forms actually used in supplements like this one — are less likely to pose a problem.
Altogether, these interactions span 2,041 individual medications. Before you start this product, check your exact medications with the tool on this page.

For each ingredient in Marshmallow Leaf Powder with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Marshmallow, Powder
Lithium
Theoretically, due to potential diuretic effects, marshmallow might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Marshmallow is thought to have diuretic properties. To avoid lithium toxicity, the dose of lithium might need to be decreased when used with marshmallow.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, marshmallow flower might have antiplatelet effects.
Animal research suggests that marshmallow flower extract has antiplatelet effects. However, the root and leaf of marshmallow, not the flower, are the plant parts most commonly found in dietary supplements. Theoretically, use of marshmallow flower with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs can have additive effects, and might increase the risk for bleeding in some patients.
Oral Drugs
Theoretically, mucilage in marshmallow might impair absorption of oral drugs.
Marshmallow contains mucilage which can affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take marshmallow 30-60 minutes after oral medications.
