What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: a blend of neem leaves extract and neem leaves powder. Neem is a traditional botanical used in Ayurvedic practice, sourced from the neem tree native to India.
The capsule itself is made from HPMC (a plant-based capsule material) and silicon dioxide as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Neem leaf has some clinical support for a few uses. It's possibly effective for gingivitis (gum inflammation) and for treating head lice.
There's also possibly effective evidence for reducing dental plaque. For acne and tungiasis (a parasitic skin infection), we don't have enough reliable evidence yet to rate whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Neem leaf preparations appear generally well tolerated when taken by mouth in adults, though high-quality safety studies are limited. The biggest safety issue is that neem is likely unsafe in pregnancy and should be avoided—it may affect fertility and the developing baby.
While breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable safety data, so it's best to avoid it during that time too. Topically, neem seems well tolerated in both children and adults, though sensitive skin may develop contact dermatitis.
Orally in children, neem oil can cause serious harm. In rare cases, adults taking neem leaf have developed serious effects like cardiac problems or kidney injury; one person with a specific blood enzyme deficiency developed hemolytic anemia (breakdown of red blood cells) and jaundice after drinking large amounts of neem tea daily.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this neem product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take diabetes medications (metformin or others)—neem can lower blood sugar. You'll also want to confirm any drugs processed through your liver (CYP3A4, CYP2C9, CYP2C8, CYP1A2 pathways), medications moved by P-glycoprotein, or immunosuppressants, since neem may affect their levels or effectiveness.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Neem leaf may help with gum inflammation, plaque, and lice based on the evidence we have. If you take diabetes medications or any drug processed by your liver, you'll need to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting neem, since it can affect blood sugar and how your body handles multiple medications.
Avoid it entirely if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Talk it over with your healthcare provider before adding this to your routine.

Neem by Herbal Hills Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Neem by Herbal Hills contains neem leaf extract and powder, which has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with antidiabetes drugs—neem can lower blood sugar and increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially in people already taking diabetes medications like metformin.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Neem also theoretically affects how your body processes multiple drug classes. It may increase levels of medications broken down by liver enzymes CYP3A4, CYP2C9, CYP2C8, and CYP1A2, as well as drugs moved by P-glycoprotein transporters—all rated Moderate severity.
So far these haven't been reported in people, but they're based on lab research showing neem can inhibit these pathways. Additionally, neem might interfere with immunosuppressants (drugs that dampen the immune system), potentially making them less effective.
Because neem can affect how your body handles so many different medications, you'll want to check your exact prescriptions against our interaction checker below before you start. Altogether, these interactions span 1,014 individual medications.
