Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product has one active ingredient: bovine colostrum, a nutrient-rich fluid produced by cows in the first few days after birth. It contains antibodies and proteins that may support immune and digestive function.

The capsules are made from gelatin.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Bovine Colostrum's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports Bovine Colostrum for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: HIV/AIDS-related diarrhea — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).
  • On file: Exercise-induced respiratory infections — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).
  • On file: Rotaviral diarrhea — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

The evidence for bovine colostrum is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related diarrhea, rotaviral diarrhea (a common cause of infectious diarrhea), and exercise-induced respiratory infections.

For necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious intestinal condition in premature infants), the data suggests it's possibly ineffective. The evidence for other uses we hold data on isn't established.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Bovine colostrum is generally well tolerated in most adults. If you have a milk or dairy allergy, avoid it — this product comes from cows.

A small number of trial participants reported mild bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and unsettled stomach at rates similar to a whey-based control. One person with HIV-related cryptosporidiosis experienced nausea and vomiting; elevated liver function tests and decreased blood cell counts have also been reported in HIV patients treated with it for infectious diarrhea.

We don't have enough reliable safety data to recommend it in pregnancy, and safety during breastfeeding hasn't been well studied — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you in either situation before you start.

NZ Super Colostrum by Everyday Health: Common Questions

Does NZ Super Colostrum by Everyday Health interact with any medications?
We do not currently list a known interaction for the mapped ingredients in NZ Super Colostrum. This does not guarantee none exist, so confirm with your pharmacist.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
NZ Super Colostrum contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm lactose intolerant or have a dairy allergy?
If you have a milk or dairy allergy, you should avoid this product — it's made from cow colostrum. If you're lactose intolerant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist; colostrum may contain some lactose, though many people tolerate it better than regular milk. Your own healthcare provider can advise based on your sensitivity.
Is it safe to take during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
We don't have enough reliable safety data to recommend it during pregnancy, so it's best to avoid unless your doctor approves. During breastfeeding, safety hasn't been well studied — use caution and talk with your provider before starting.
What side effects might I notice?
A small number of trial participants reported mild bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and unsettled stomach — at rates similar to a whey-based control. One person with a specific type of HIV-related infection experienced nausea and vomiting, and elevated liver function tests and decreased blood cell counts have been reported in HIV patients treated with it for infectious diarrhea.
Does this actually work for diarrhea?
It's rated possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related diarrhea and rotaviral diarrhea (a common infectious cause), so the evidence is promising but not definitive. It's also possibly effective for exercise-induced respiratory infections. For other uses, we don't have established evidence.
Why is there only one ingredient?
This product focuses on bovine colostrum as its single active ingredient — the nutrient-rich fluid from cows after birth. The capsule itself is made from gelatin, which is an inactive ingredient that just holds the colostrum.
