Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Ceylon cinnamon powder. That's it—no other actives.
The inactive ingredients listed are the cinnamon powder itself in its final form.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that cinnamon works for any of the conditions listed—amenorrhea, angina, common cold, diabetes, diarrhea, or dyslipidemia (high cholesterol). All six show insufficient reliable evidence to rate.
If you're thinking about using cinnamon for one of these, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the broader research says.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Food amounts of cinnamon are generally well tolerated. However, supplement doses—especially high ones over time—carry caution because of coumarin content, which can harm the liver with prolonged use.
In clinical trials of cassia cinnamon at doses from 360 mg to 12 grams daily for up to 3 months, liver enzyme levels didn't rise significantly, but very high coumarin doses (50–7,000 mg per day) have caused liver damage in people that reversed when they stopped. A small number of trial participants reported a rash or, in one case, a hypoglycemic seizure (low blood sugar seizure), though the connection to cinnamon in that seizure case is unclear.
If you have a documented allergy to cinnamic alcohol, dietary cinnamon can trigger systemic contact dermatitis (a whole-body allergic rash). During pregnancy and breastfeeding, food amounts are likely fine, but avoid medicinal or high-dose supplement amounts—there isn't enough safety data for those.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check your medications if you take any drugs that strain the liver (hepatotoxic drugs) or diabetes medications—both carry moderate interaction risks with cinnamon at supplement doses. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs.

For each ingredient in Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Powder with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Ceylon Cinnamon
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, cassia cinnamon may have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Cassia cinnamon may lower blood glucose levels, and have additive effects in patients treated with antidiabetic agents. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, large doses of cassia cinnamon might cause additive effects when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
