Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: lemon powder at 450 mg per serving. Lemon is a citrus fruit that you'd normally eat fresh or juice at home — here it's been dried and powdered.

The only other ingredient listed is maltodextrin, an inactive filler.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Lemon product and its label doesn't state a use — see Lemon's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for lemon powder isn't established for any condition we have data on. Our facts show insufficient evidence to rate it for hay fever, anxiety, respiratory infections, high blood pressure, or kidney stones.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means controlled trials haven't been done or published on these uses yet.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data

Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Lemon as a food or drink in normal amounts is safe for most people. However, this product is a concentrated supplement, not just food, and larger amounts haven't been well studied.

In one trial, people who drank fresh lemon juice (60 mL twice daily) reported more heartburn and stomach upset than those on placebo — about a third of juice drinkers had some stomach disturbance. Avoid concentrated lemon supplements or lemon essential oil unless your doctor approves them first.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.

If you're looking for lemon's general health benefits, fresh lemon in food or water is safer and better studied. This powder might be useful if your doctor recommends it, but talk to your pharmacist first — especially if you take itraconazole or other medications.

Itraconazole (Sporanox)

Theoretically, taking itraconazole capsules or tablets with a beverage containing lemon might increase the levels and clinical effects of itraconazole.
In one case report, dissolving itraconazole tablets in a small amount of specific beverages containing lemon prior to administration increased the level of itraconazole in a lung transplant patient. In this case, the increased bioavailability was desirable and was likely due to improved tablet dissolution in the acidic beverage.

Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg by BulkSupplements.com: Common Questions

Does Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg by BulkSupplements.com interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg has a known interaction with 1 medication. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is lemon powder safe for heartburn?
No — in fact, fresh lemon juice has been shown to trigger heartburn in some people. About 21% of trial participants who drank lemon juice reported heartburn, compared to just 1% on placebo. If you're prone to heartburn or stomach upset, this powder isn't a good choice.
Can I use this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Our data doesn't include safety information for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Lemon as a food is fine, but medicinal amounts haven't been well studied. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this supplement during pregnancy or while nursing.
What's the difference between this powder and fresh lemon juice?
Fresh lemon in food and drinks is well tolerated. This powder is a concentrated supplement, and larger medicinal amounts haven't been thoroughly tested. The safety data is much better for the fruit itself than for supplements like this one.
Does lemon powder help with colds or respiratory infections?
There isn't enough reliable evidence to say whether lemon powder works for respiratory infections. While lemon is a common remedy, controlled trials haven't been published on this use.
