Organic Marshmallow Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Organic Marshmallow against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: organic marshmallow. The supplement also includes pullulan as an inactive ingredient (a capsule material and binder).
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that marshmallow works for any of the conditions it's promoted for — vaginal yeast infections, diarrhea, leg ulcers, eczema, and respiratory infections all fall into insufficient reliable evidence. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the scientific support isn't there yet in our data.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Marshmallow is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but human safety data are limited. There isn't enough reliable safety information to know whether it's okay during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — so the evidence advises against using it during both.
If you're pregnant, nursing, or thinking about it, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check your medications with the tool on this page. Lithium requires the most caution — marshmallow may raise its levels.
Also check any blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet drugs, and any oral medications, since marshmallow may slow their absorption.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Organic Marshmallow may be worth considering if you're looking for a traditional herbal remedy, but the evidence for it doesn't yet support its use for any specific condition. If you take lithium, blood thinners, or other oral medications, check with your pharmacist first — this supplement can affect how some drugs work in your body.

Organic Marshmallow by Oregon's Wild Harvest Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Organic Marshmallow by Oregon's Wild Harvest can interact with a couple of medication types.
The most serious concern is lithium (a mood stabilizer). Marshmallow is thought to have diuretic properties — meaning it may increase urine output — and theory suggests this could reduce how your body clears lithium, raising its levels in your blood.
If you take lithium, your dose might need adjustment to prevent toxicity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Marshmallow also contains mucilage, a thick substance that can coat your digestive tract and slow the absorption of oral medications. Minor interactions are also possible with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs, though this is based on animal research with the flower part — most supplements use the root and leaf instead.
Altogether, these interactions span 2 individual medications. To be safe, take this supplement 30–60 minutes after any oral medications.
Run your exact prescriptions through the checker on this page before you start.

organic Marshmallow
Lithium
Theoretically, due to potential diuretic effects, marshmallow might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Marshmallow is thought to have diuretic properties. To avoid lithium toxicity, the dose of lithium might need to be decreased when used with marshmallow.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, marshmallow flower might have antiplatelet effects.
Animal research suggests that marshmallow flower extract has antiplatelet effects. However, the root and leaf of marshmallow, not the flower, are the plant parts most commonly found in dietary supplements. Theoretically, use of marshmallow flower with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs can have additive effects, and might increase the risk for bleeding in some patients.
Oral Drugs
Theoretically, mucilage in marshmallow might impair absorption of oral drugs.
Marshmallow contains mucilage which can affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take marshmallow 30-60 minutes after oral medications.
