Peak PS is a single-ingredient supplement: phosphatidylserine, a fat-like compound found naturally in cell membranes and certain foods. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — gum arabic, rice bran, vegetable capsule material, silica, and L-leucine — which serve as binders and fillers.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is rated possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease based on available evidence. For athletic performance, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), general cognitive function, and dementia, the evidence isn't established in our data — we hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate it one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety hasn't been fully established. The most common side effects are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea — with insomnia more likely at higher doses around 600 mg.
Gastrointestinal symptoms can appear at doses of 200–300 mg per day. There isn't enough safety information during pregnancy, so the data advises against it.
Safety while breastfeeding is unknown as well, and avoidance is recommended. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
