PhosChol PPC is a liquid supplement with 3 active ingredients: phosphatidylcholine (a compound found naturally in cell membranes and thought to support brain and liver function), polyunsaturated fat, and monounsaturated fat. The product also contains several inactive ingredients—safflower oil, medium chain triglyceride, neutral spirits, glycerol stearate, ascorbyl palmitate, and D-alpha-tocopherol—which are there to stabilize and preserve the formula.

Phosphatidylcholine is possibly effective for ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel disease). For other conditions—nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease, Alzheimer disease, and anxiety—the evidence we have on file is insufficient to say whether it works.

How safe is it?

Phosphatidylcholine is generally well tolerated at typical doses. With oral use, the most common side effects are altered taste, bloating, diarrhea, itching, nausea, sweating, and vomiting—though these tend to be mild.
High doses (30 grams per day or more) are more likely to cause digestive upset and diarrhea. Choline (which phosphatidylcholine provides) is needed during pregnancy, but the safety of supplements beyond what you get from food hasn't been well studied—talk with your doctor.
There isn't enough reliable data on supplement use while breastfeeding either; check with your healthcare provider before taking this if you're nursing.
