What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients: phosphatidylserine, a naturally occurring compound found in cell membranes, and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 fatty acid. The inactive ingredients are soy lecithin, veggie softgel capsule material, and algae oil.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease. For other uses—including athletic performance, ADHD, general cognitive function, and dementia—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate it.
We have no effectiveness data on file for DHA in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated in studies, but long-term safety isn't fully established. The most common side effects are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea.
Insomnia is more likely at higher doses (600 mg), and gastrointestinal upset can occur at 200–300 mg per day. There isn't enough safety information to use this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you in those situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you use anticholinergic drugs (used for overactive bladder, certain poisonings, or neurological conditions) or cholinergic drugs (which increase acetylcholine activity). Both classes may have reduced effectiveness or additive effects with phosphatidylserine.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with age-related cognitive decline or Alzheimer disease, though evidence is limited. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
