Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: phosphatidylserine, a naturally occurring compound found in cell membranes. It's derived from soy or cabbage sources and is meant to support brain function and memory.
The softgel capsule also contains inactive ingredients—medium-chain triglycerides, gelatin, glycerin, lipids, purified water, ascorbyl palmitate, and mixed tocopherols—which help deliver the phosphatidylserine and keep it stable.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease, based on available evidence. For athletic performance, ADHD, general cognitive function, and dementia, the evidence isn't established well enough to rate it one way or the other.
If you're taking this for memory or brain health, talk with your doctor about whether it's the right fit for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety data is limited. The most common side effects are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea—especially at higher doses.
Insomnia is more likely at 600 mg per dose, and stomach upset can show up at doses around 200–300 mg daily. During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety information, so avoidance is recommended.
The same goes for breastfeeding—safety data is unknown, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're nursing or planning to become pregnant.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before starting if you take anticholinergic drugs (like certain antihistamines or urinary antispasmodics) or cholinergic drugs (like Parkinson's medications or some glaucoma drops). Both types may have their effects changed by phosphatidylserine.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Phosphatidylserine might help with age-related memory loss or early Alzheimer's changes, and it's usually easy on the stomach at this 100 mg dose. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, you'll need to check with your pharmacist first.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to get pregnant, skip it unless your doctor says otherwise.

Phosphatidylserine 100 mg by Nature's Way Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Phosphatidylserine by Nature's Way interacts with two medication types.
The ingredient works by raising acetylcholine levels in your brain, which can interfere with how certain drugs work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The main concern is anticholinergic drugs (Moderate severity) — medications that block acetylcholine activity, like some antihistamines, antispasmodics, and urinary antimuscarinics. Phosphatidylserine may reduce how well these work.
You'll also want to check cholinergic drugs (Moderate severity) — medications that already boost acetylcholine, like some Parkinson's treatments and certain glaucoma eye drops. Combined with phosphatidylserine, they could add up to too much cholinergic activity.
Additionally, these are theoretical interactions based on how the ingredient is thought to work; they haven't all been proven in real patients. Altogether, these interactions span 219 individual medications.
Before you start phosphatidylserine, run your exact prescription list through the medication checker on this page.
