What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: pumpkin powder. It's simply dehydrated pumpkin flesh, with no added fillers or other inactive ingredients.
The powder delivers the whole-food nutrients of pumpkin in concentrated form.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Pumpkin powder is possibly effective for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), according to the evidence we hold. For androgenic alopecia (male-pattern hair loss), interstitial cystitis (bladder inflammation), intestinal parasites, and urinary tract infections, the evidence isn't established—meaning there isn't enough reliable data to make a claim one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pumpkin as a food is generally well tolerated. Most people don't experience problems, though some trial participants reported mild abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
Rarely, anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction) has been reported. There are two case reports of women experiencing hair loss 1–3 weeks after eating a meal with bitter-tasting pumpkin or squash; this was linked to high levels of cucurbitacin, a compound found in wild pumpkins.
For pregnancy and lactation, there isn't enough data on concentrated pumpkin supplements to guide a recommendation—talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take lithium, this product warrants a Moderate-severity interaction—pumpkin may increase lithium levels in your blood. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.
No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
