Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: raspberry ketone at 125 mcg per tablet. Raspberry ketones are compounds found in red raspberries.

The tablet also contains inactive ingredients — dicalcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, silica, and pharmaceutical glaze — which are binders, fillers, and coating materials.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Raspberry Ketone product and its label doesn't state a use — see Raspberry Ketone's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for raspberry ketone's effectiveness is not established in the data we hold. Studies have looked at it for alopecia areata (a type of hair loss) and obesity, but the available research is rated as insufficient to draw reliable conclusions.

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether current evidence supports its use for your needs.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data

Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

While raspberry is a common food, safety data for high-dose supplements is very limited in humans. Raspberry ketone is structurally similar to synephrine, a stimulant, so stimulant-related side effects are possible — case reports describe heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, coronary vasospasm, and in rare instances, serious heart rhythm problems.

Other reported side effects include sweating, diarrhea, and feelings of shakiness. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know whether concentrated supplements at these doses are safe for you or your baby.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Raspberry Ketone.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 174 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, check your medications against stimulant drugs (including stimulant ADHD medications and decongestants) and warfarin. These are the documented moderate-severity interactions with raspberry ketone.

If you take either category, confirm with your doctor or pharmacist that this product is safe for you.

Stimulant Drugs

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects with stimulant drugs.
Structurally, raspberry ketone resembles synephrine, a known stimulant agent. Heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, coronary vasospasm, pulseless electrical activity arrest, and resistant polymorphic ventricular tachycardia have been reported in patients taking raspberry ketone.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Warfarin (Coumadin)

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase warfarin dose requirements.
In one case report, a patient taking warfarin 55 mg per week had a decrease in INR over a period of one month while taking raspberry ketone 250 mg daily. A warfarin dose increase to 70 mg per week was necessary to maintain a therapeutic INR while taking raspberry ketone. The mechanism for this potential interaction is not known.

Raspberry Ketones 125 mcg by Foods Plus: Common Questions

Does Raspberry Ketones 125 mcg by Foods Plus interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Raspberry Ketones 125 mcg has a known interaction with 174 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Raspberry Ketones 125 mcg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take Raspberry Ketones if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. The safety data advises against concentrated supplements during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough information to know whether they're safe at these doses. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
What side effects might I experience?
Most experience data is limited, but case reports link raspberry ketone to heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, sweating, diarrhea, and feelings of shakiness — similar to stimulant side effects. In rare instances, serious heart rhythm problems have been reported. Stop taking it and call your doctor right away if you feel heart palpitations or chest symptoms.
Does raspberry ketone actually work for weight loss or hair loss?
The evidence available to us is insufficient to say it works for either obesity or alopecia areata. While these are the conditions it's been studied for, the research doesn't yet support a reliable conclusion. Talk with your doctor about whether it's worth trying.
Why is the dose so low — only 125 mcg?
That's a very small amount. To put it in perspective, research studies have used doses up to 250 mg or higher daily. This tablet provides about 1/2000th of that. Whether such a small dose has any effect isn't clear from the data we hold.
Is this a natural product?
Raspberry ketone is a compound found naturally in red raspberries, but the amount in a single tablet is far smaller than what you'd consume by eating the fruit. The tablet also contains several synthetic or processed inactive ingredients to hold it together.
