Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: 500 mg of raspberry ketones per capsule. Raspberry ketones are compounds found naturally in raspberries and are marketed for weight management and hair loss, though the evidence for either use is limited.

The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — gelatin, vegetable cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, and vegetable magnesium stearate — which are fillers, binders, and capsule materials with no therapeutic effect.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Raspberry Ketone product and its label doesn't state a use — see Raspberry Ketone's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for raspberry ketones is insufficient to rate. The product is marketed for obesity and alopecia areata (a type of hair loss), but we don't have enough reliable data to say whether it actually works for either condition.

If you're considering this supplement for one of these reasons, it's worth discussing what the current evidence shows with your doctor or pharmacist.

Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Raspberry ketones are used safely in foods, but safety data for the high supplement doses in this product is very limited in humans. Side effects tied to its stimulant-like structure — heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, and in rare cases serious heart rhythm problems — have been reported.

A small number of users also experienced sweating, diarrhea, and shakiness. This product should be avoided during pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to insufficient safety information.

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Raspberry Ketone.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 174 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check these medication types before taking this product, worst severity first. Stimulant drugs (like amphetamines, decongestants, or other stimulant medications) carry a Moderate risk of increased cardiovascular side effects.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Raspberry Ketones 500 mg may appeal to someone looking to support weight management or hair health, but the evidence for either use is not yet established. The bigger concern is safety — especially if you take stimulant drugs or warfarin — and the limited data on high-dose use in humans.

Stimulant Drugs

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects with stimulant drugs.
Structurally, raspberry ketone resembles synephrine, a known stimulant agent. Heart palpitations, elevated blood pressure, coronary vasospasm, pulseless electrical activity arrest, and resistant polymorphic ventricular tachycardia have been reported in patients taking raspberry ketone.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Warfarin (Coumadin)

Theoretically, raspberry ketone might increase warfarin dose requirements.
In one case report, a patient taking warfarin 55 mg per week had a decrease in INR over a period of one month while taking raspberry ketone 250 mg daily. A warfarin dose increase to 70 mg per week was necessary to maintain a therapeutic INR while taking raspberry ketone. The mechanism for this potential interaction is not known.

Raspberry Ketones 500 mg by Vitamin World: Common Questions

Does Raspberry Ketones 500 mg by Vitamin World interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Raspberry Ketones 500 mg has a known interaction with 174 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Raspberry Ketones 500 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on a stimulant medication or warfarin?
Not without checking with your doctor first. Raspberry ketone theoretically increases the risk of heart-related side effects with stimulants, and one case report shows it may reduce warfarin's effectiveness. Use the medication checker on this page to see your exact drugs, then confirm with your pharmacist or doctor before starting.
Does raspberry ketone actually help with weight loss or hair loss?
The evidence isn't established yet. We have insufficient reliable data to say whether it works for obesity or alopecia areata, even though those are common reasons people buy it. Talk with your doctor about what the current evidence shows and whether it's right for you.
What side effects might I experience?
Because raspberry ketone resembles a stimulant, stimulant-related side effects are possible — heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, and in rare cases serious heart rhythm problems. A small number of users also reported sweating, diarrhea, and shakiness. It's not well studied in humans, so the full range isn't known.
Is it safe to take during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
No — the safety data is insufficient, and the product should be avoided. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant and interested in this supplement.
What are the inactive ingredients?
The capsule contains gelatin, vegetable cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, and vegetable magnesium stearate — these are fillers and binders with no therapeutic effect.
