by Emerald Labs
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Sea Buckthorn against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product is one single active ingredient: sea buckthorn powder. There's one inactive ingredient — the vegetable capsule itself.
Does it work?
Not established
Sea buckthorn shows possibly effective evidence for burns. For eczema (atopic dermatitis), the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For other uses listed — high cholesterol (dyslipidemia), aging skin, and cancer — the evidence in our data is insufficient to rate whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sea buckthorn is generally well tolerated as a food, but supplement safety hasn't been fully studied, so use caution. At high doses, it may cause yellow staining of the skin; one patient who took 100 grams daily for six months developed generalized yellowing.
Topically, the oil can cause dryness, irritation, redness, and rash — rash occurred in 4% of patients in one study. There isn't enough reliable safety data on supplement use while breastfeeding; talk with your doctor before taking it if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before taking this if you use blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs — sea buckthorn may increase bleeding risk. Also watch if you're on blood pressure medication, since sea buckthorn can lower pressure itself.
Altogether, these interactions span 287 individual medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Sea Buckthorn may help with burns, but the evidence for other skin and health conditions is weak or unknown. If you take blood thinners or blood pressure medications, don't start this without checking with your pharmacist first — the interaction risk is real.
Talk to your doctor about whether it's right for you.

Sea Buckthorn by Emerald Labs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sea Buckthorn by Emerald Labs has documented interactions with two medication types.
The main concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, clopidogrel, or aspirin) — sea buckthorn may inhibit how your platelets clump together and stick, which could increase bleeding risk. This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Sea buckthorn also interacts with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). Since the supplement itself can lower blood pressure in some people, combining it with drugs that do the same job might drop your pressure too far — also Moderate severity.
Additionally, our data doesn't cover some ingredients for interactions. Run your exact medications through the checker below before you start, especially if you take any drug that affects bleeding or blood pressure.
