Slimin Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by ActiveHerb
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Slimin against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Slimin by ActiveHerb
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Slimin contains 7 ingredients, one of which is a proprietary blend we cannot verify. The active herbs are Astragalus, Asian Water Plantain, Atractylodes, Poria (a medicinal mushroom), Sacred Lotus, and Chinese Hawthorn.
The product also contains inactive ingredients: hypromellose (a capsule material), dextrin (a binder), and magnesium stearate (a lubricant).
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold does not establish that any of these ingredients work for weight loss or the conditions listed on the label. Astragalus, Atractylodes, Poria, Sacred Lotus, and Chinese Hawthorn all carry ratings of "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for the various uses studied.
Asian Water Plantain has no effectiveness ratings in our data. If you're considering this product for a specific health goal, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about what the science actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Astragalus is generally well tolerated short-term in healthy adults, though long-term human safety data are limited. It should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Atractylodes, Poria, Sacred Lotus, and Chinese Hawthorn have limited human safety data and should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Asian Water Plantain is not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and high or long-term use may stress your kidneys or liver.
Rare adverse effects reported include allergic reactions (rash, itching, allergic rhinitis, or asthma), dizziness, palpitations, and in one case, severe liver and kidney damage with a combination product. If you have heart disease, liver problems, or kidney problems, medical supervision is important before using this product.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before taking Slimin, double-check these medication types with your pharmacist: nitrates and phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (erectile dysfunction drugs) — these carry Major-severity risks with hawthorn. Then check blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelets), diabetes medications, heart medications (beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, digoxin), sedatives and central nervous system depressants, lithium, immunosuppressants, and the cancer drug cyclophosphamide — these all carry Moderate interactions.
Kidney-stressing drugs carry Minor interactions. No interactions are documented for the Proprietary Blend ingredient.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Slimin interacts with a significant number of medications, including some commonly prescribed heart and diabetes drugs. Slimin by ActiveHerb Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Slimin by ActiveHerb contains several ingredients with documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is Chinese Hawthorn, which carries Major-severity interactions with nitrates and phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (drugs like sildenafil for erectile dysfunction). Hawthorn can add to the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications, potentially causing dangerous drops in blood pressure.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate interactions span multiple drug categories. Astragalus may interfere with immunosuppressants and the cancer drug cyclophosphamide, increase lithium levels (a mood-stabilizing medication), and raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if combined with diabetes medications.
Atractylodes theoretically increases bleeding risk with blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelets), prolongs the effects of certain sedatives, and may affect how your body processes several prescription drugs. Sacred Lotus also raises bleeding risk with blood thinners and may dangerously lower blood sugar when combined with diabetes drugs or certain sedatives.
Poria mushroom may enhance sedation with central nervous system depressants and affect anticholinergic and cholinergic drugs. Asian Water Plantain carries a Minor interaction with medications that stress the kidneys.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,405 individual medications.

Atractylodes
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylenolides II and III, constituents of atractylodes, reduce platelet activation. So far, this has not been shown in humans.
Aromatase Inhibitors
Theoretically, atractylodes may have an additive effect when used with other aromatase inhibitors.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylodes and its constituents exhibit aromatase inhibitor effects.
Hexobarbital
Theoretically, taking atractylodes may prolong the therapeutic and adverse effects of hexobarbital.
In animals, atractylodes has been shown to prolong the effects of hexobarbital. These effects have not been shown in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, atractylodes might decrease the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to induce CYP1A2 activity. This effect has not been shown in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.
Poria
Anticholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, poria mushroom might decrease the clinical effects of anticholinergic drugs.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Cholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, poria mushroom might have additive effects when used with cholinergic drugs.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, taking poria mushroom extract may enhance the therapeutic and adverse effects of sedatives.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Asian Water Plantain
Nephrotoxic Drugs
Studies on animals have shown that Asian water plantain extract, which contains triterpenoids, is generally safe at doses up to 1440 mg/kg orally daily and does not cause harm to the body. However, using a higher dose of the extract, at 33.3 grams/kg orally for 60 days, has been linked to kidney issues, as indicated by increased blood urea nitrogen levels, and enlargement of the liver and kidneys. Additionally, two components of Asian water plantain, alisol A and alisol B, when given in doses of 400 mg/kg daily and 500 mg/kg daily respectively for 6 months, have been found to increase the production of markers that suggest potential kidney damage from certain medications. While these findings suggest there is very little risk that Asian water plantain may interact with drugs that are harmful to the kidneys, caution is still advised if combined with known nephrotoxic drugs (source: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28408883/)
Sacred Lotus
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of lotus with other antiplatelet drugs might reduce platelet aggregation and increase the risk of bleeding.
Neferine and isoliensinine, constituents of lotus, have been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, in vitro. These constituents can inhibit the production of pro-aggregating factors like prostaglandins.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, lotus might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that the ethanolic extract of lotus reduces blood glucose levels and potentiates the effects of injected insulin. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
Pentobarbital (Nembutal)
Theoretically, taking lotus concomitantly with pentobarbital might increase sedation.
Animal research shows that lotus extract increases pentobarbitone-induced sleeping time. It is not known if this occurs in humans or if this effect occurs with other barbiturates or sedatives.
Astragalus
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking astragalus with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research in humans shows that astragalus might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking astragalus, especially in combination with other hypoglycemic agents, might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Cyclophosphamide
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with cyclophosphamide therapy.
Evidence regarding the effect of astragalus on immunosuppression caused by cyclophosphamide is conflicting. Some animal research suggests that astragalus reverses cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression. However, other animal research shows no effect.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Astragalus seems to stimulate immune function. Theoretically, taking astragalus might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
Lithium
Theoretically, astragalus might increase levels and adverse effects of lithium.
Animal research suggests that astragalus has diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to this diuretic effect, astragalus might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Chinese Hawthorn
Nitrates
Theoretically, concomitant use might cause additive coronary vasodilatory effects.
Some evidence shows that hawthorn might lower blood pressure due to vasodilatory effects.
Phosphodiesterase-5 Inhibitors
Theoretically, concomitant use might result in additive vasodilation and hypotension.
Hawthorn might inhibit PDE-5 and cause vasodilation.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hawthorn may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro and animal research shows that hawthorn can inhibit platelet aggregation. However, its effect in humans is unclear. One observational study shows that patients taking hawthorn shortly before undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery or valve replacement surgery have a 10% incidence of postoperative bleeding, compared with 1% in those who never consumed hawthorn extract. However, clinical research shows that taking a specific preparation of dried hawthorn leaves and flowers (Crataesor, Soria Natural Lab) 800 mg three times daily for 15 days does not affect platelet aggregation or levels of thromboxane B2, the metabolite of thromboxane A2, in healthy humans.
Beta-Blockers
Theoretically, concomitant use might cause additive effects on blood pressure and heart rate.
Some evidence shows that hawthorn might lower blood pressure and heart rate.
Calcium Channel Blockers
Theoretically, concomitant use might cause additive coronary vasodilation and hypotensive effects.
Some evidence shows that hawthorn might lower blood pressure due to vasodilatory effects.
Digoxin (Lanoxin)
Theoretically, hawthorn might potentiate the effects and adverse effects of digoxin.
Hawthorn appears to improve cardiac output; however, hawthorn does not appear to affect digoxin pharmacokinetics. Case reports suggest that at least one species of hawthorn root extract (Crataegus mexicana) may produce adverse effects similar to digoxin and can cross-react with digoxin assays, leading to falsely elevated plasma digoxin levels.
