Beclomethasone dipropionate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the gist with beclomethasone (Qvar, QNASL). Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear it. In animal studies, high doses of atractylodes slowed a similar enzyme, which could theoretically let a bit more beclomethasone hang around. The catch is that this has never actually been shown in people, and it's rated as a minor interaction with only lab and animal evidence behind it.

Even if levels nudged up slightly, inhaled or nasal beclomethasone delivers a very small dose, so big problems are unlikely. At most you might notice typical steroid effects like throat irritation, hoarseness, or mouth thrush. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but it's still worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor if you plan to use atractylodes regularly.

What Is Beclomethasone Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand names: Qvar, QNASL

Beclomethasone dipropionate HFA inhalation aerosol (brand: Qvar Redihaler) is used for the ongoing, daily management of asthma in adults and children 5 years of age and older. It is a preventive (maintenance) therapy — not a rescue inhaler — meaning it helps control asthma over time rather than treating sudden symptoms.

Important: Qvar Redihaler is not for the relief of sudden asthma attacks or acute bronchospasm. Always keep a separate fast-acting (rescue) inhaler on hand for those moments.
