Ketoprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylenolides II and III, constituents of atractylodes, reduce platelet activation. So far, this has not been shown in humans.

Here's the thing about pairing Atractylodes with ketoprofen: ketoprofen is an NSAID, and on its own it already nudges up bleeding risk because it makes your platelets a bit less sticky and can irritate the stomach lining. Lab studies hint that certain compounds in Atractylodes (atractylenolides II and III) may also calm down platelet activity, so the worry is that stacking the two could add up and make bleeding or bruising a little more likely.

I want to be honest with you though: this is theoretical. It comes from test-tube and animal work, and it has not been shown in real people. Still, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, dark stools, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Atractylodes is a root used for centuries in traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Thai medicine, mostly for digestive complaints and fatigue, often as part of multi-herb formulas. Modern research is still early and mostly from lab and animal studies, so its true benefits in people are not well proven. What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
