Prednisone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to inhibit CYP3A1 activity, which is a homolog to the human CYP3A4 enzyme. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the gist for prednisone: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process it. In animal studies (not people), high doses of atractylodes seemed to slow down a similar enzyme. If that happened in humans, prednisone could clear out a little more slowly and build up slightly, which in theory might mean stronger steroid effects or more side effects like trouble sleeping, mood swings, higher blood sugar, fluid retention, or stomach upset.

I want to be honest, though: this is purely theoretical, based on lab and animal work, and has never been shown in actual people. The interaction is rated minor. Still, since herbal products vary, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.
