Acetaminophen, Aspirin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Atractylodes interacts with.

Theoretically, atractylodes might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs.
Laboratory research suggests that atractylenolides II and III, constituents of atractylodes, reduce platelet activation. So far, this has not been shown in humans.

Here's the thing to know about combining atractylodes with this acetaminophen and aspirin product: the aspirin portion already thins the blood a bit by making your platelets less sticky. Lab studies hint that certain compounds in atractylodes (atractylenolides) may also calm platelets down. Stack those two together and, in theory, you could bleed a little more easily.

I want to be straight with you though, this is only from test-tube and animal research. It hasn't been shown to happen in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you notice easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, mention it. Before adding atractylodes, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES

Acetaminophen, Aspirin also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, atractylodes might decrease the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In animals, atractylodes administered at high doses has been shown to induce CYP1A2 activity. This effect has not been shown in humans.

Here's the short version on combining atractylodes with this acetaminophen and aspirin combo (Gemnisyn). In animal studies, high doses of atractylodes seemed to speed up a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. Acetaminophen is partly handled by that enzyme, so in theory, speeding it up could clear the drug a little faster and slightly lessen its pain or fever relief. Neither of these is a prodrug, so there's no hidden flip in direction here.

I want to be honest about how weak this is. It has only been seen in lab and animal work, never in people, and it's rated minor. Everyday cooking amounts almost certainly won't matter. If you're using a concentrated supplement regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.
