Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: biotin (5000 mcg per softgel). Biotin is a B vitamin that supports keratin production and is used to address biotin deficiency.
The inactive ingredients — soybean oil, gelatin, vegetable glycerin, yellow beeswax, and titanium dioxide — make up the softgel capsule itself.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency. For other uses — multiple sclerosis, seborrheic dermatitis, and hair loss (alopecia areata) — the evidence is either insufficient to rate or points toward it being ineffective.
If you're taking this for one of those other reasons, the data suggests talking it over with your doctor to see if there's a better-studied option.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at fairly high doses, because your body clears excess through urine. High-dose biotin has rarely been linked to mild diarrhea; one case report noted transient mild diarrhea in patients taking 300 mg daily.
There's also one isolated report of a 76-year-old who developed a rare lung condition after taking biotin 10 mg daily along with other supplements and a heart medication — but it's unclear whether biotin was the cause. Biotin from food and prenatal vitamins is considered likely safe in pregnancy and lactation; however, check with your doctor before taking high-dose supplements during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for the biotin in this product with any medication types. That's not a guarantee none exist — if you're on any prescriptions or supplements, check with your own pharmacist or doctor before adding this one.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is a straightforward biotin supplement, likely effective if you have a biotin deficiency. If you're considering it for hair loss, skin health, or another condition, the evidence is weak or absent — worth discussing with your doctor first.
Since no drug interactions are documented for biotin, it's generally compatible with medications, but run your full medication list through the checker below or ask your pharmacist before you start, especially if you take high-dose supplements or have any health conditions.
