Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Taurine 600 contains one active ingredient: taurine at 600 mg per capsule. Taurine is an amino acid your body makes naturally and uses in the heart, brain, and eyes.
The capsule itself is gelatin.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Taurine has been rated possibly effective for two conditions based on available evidence: hepatitis and congestive heart failure (CHF). For obesity, the data suggests it may not be effective.
For other uses, the evidence in our data is not established.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Taurine is generally well tolerated when taken orally at typical doses for up to one year. The most common side effects are constipation, diarrhea, and indigestion.
Rare serious effects include allergic reactions — one case involved a person with a history of sulfur-containing allergies who reacted to taurine doses of 250–500 mg. Long-term safety beyond one year is not well studied, so use this supplement only under medical guidance.
While taurine naturally appears in breast milk, the safety of supplement doses in pregnancy and breastfeeding is not well established; talk with your pharmacist or doctor for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check before taking this product if you use blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) or lithium. Both carry Moderate interaction risk with taurine.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Taurine 600 may help with hepatitis or heart failure, but the evidence is modest. If you take blood pressure medications or lithium, don't start this without checking with your pharmacist — the interaction risk is real.
Otherwise, short-term use appears tolerable, though long-term safety data is thin.

Formula
Andrew Lessman's Taurine 600 is a pure, high potency source of the amino acid taurine, which is best described as the most important amino acid you likely have never heard of. Taurine is found in all body tissues and there is virtually no organ or system that is not positively impacted by its presence. Taurine is most highly concentrated in critical tissues of the heart, blood cells, muscles, brain, liver, ear and retina of the eye. Taurine provides protective, stabilizing benefits to cell membranes throughout the body supporting the management and movement of essential ions, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. Taurine supports heart and cardiovascular health through numerous mechanisms, including its positive influence on healthy blood pressure and vascular function. Taurine also provides protective benefits to the hard-working tissues of the liver. Taurine has been recognized for the protective benefits it provides to the retina of the eye and the delicate structures of the ear. Given its diverse benefits, it is not surprising that population studies have associated taurine intake with healthy longevity. Taurine's best sources are meat and seafood; however, even a typical diet rich in those foods only provides low levels of taurine making supplementation the best means of achieving its many benefits, Taurine may be the least known of amino acids, but that will likely not last long given its long list of unique and exceptional benefits.
