Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: theacrine. It's a naturally occurring alkaloid structurally similar to caffeine that's being studied for potential effects on energy, focus, and athletic performance.

The capsule also contains gelatin and microcrystalline cellulose, which are standard inactive ingredients that help form and fill the capsule.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Theacrine's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: energy, mental focus and performance.
  • We looked for evidence on: Cognitive function, Fatigue, Mental alertness.
  • The closest evidence on file: Theacrine is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Cognitive function (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Theacrine is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Fatigue, Mental alertness.

The evidence we hold doesn't yet support using theacrine for athletic performance, cognitive function, fatigue, mental alertness, or muscle strength — the data is too limited to rate it either way. If you're considering this product for any of those reasons, understand that we don't have reliable evidence that it works for them yet.

How safe is it?

Limited data
Safety Information · database check
Limited information

Little studied safety information is available for these ingredients — that is not the same as being safe.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 0 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Short-term use appears generally well tolerated in studies, but long-term safety hasn't been established, so we don't know what happens if you take it regularly for months or years. There isn't enough safety data to use theacrine during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — the product facts advise against both.

If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Theacrine.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 248 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you use any CNS depressants — sedating medications like benzodiazepines, sleep aids, opioids, or other drugs that slow your central nervous system. Theacrine may either increase or decrease their effects, and that interaction is rated Moderate.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is limited.

Theacrine is a single-ingredient supplement that's been studied for energy and focus, but the evidence isn't strong enough yet to say it works for those purposes. Its main concern is a possible unpredictable interaction with CNS depressants (sedating medications), so if you take any of those, check with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Short-term use looks okay in studies, but long-term safety is unknown.
