Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • “98% Trans-Resveratrol Polygonum cuspidatum rhizome extract” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label gives one combined amount (500 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.

Transmax Tr contains one active ingredient: 500 mg of trans-resveratrol, derived from Polygonum cuspidatum (Japanese knotweed) rhizome extract. Resveratrol is a polyphenol — a natural compound found in plants — that your body may use as an antioxidant.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Resveratrol's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports Resveratrol for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).
  • On file: Obesity — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

The evidence for resveratrol is mixed. It appears possibly effective for obesity and allergic rhinitis (hay fever).

However, it is rated possibly ineffective for cardiovascular disease prevention and high cholesterol. The data we hold shows these findings; more research may refine our understanding.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Resveratrol at typical supplement doses is generally well tolerated. At higher doses, the most common side effects are diarrhea, gastrointestinal discomfort, and loose stools.

Isolated cases have included headache, fatigue, and skin rash; one case of allergic contact dermatitis was reported with a cream containing resveratrol plus another ingredient, so causality is unclear. Long-term safety at high doses is not fully known.

Regarding pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data to know either way whether concentrated resveratrol supplements are safe. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you're pregnant or nursing — they can weigh the risks and benefits for your situation.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Resveratrol.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 823 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Transmax Tr, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin (Moderate concern — resveratrol may increase bleeding risk). Also flag any medication metabolized by CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP3A4, or CYP2E1 enzymes — resveratrol might raise its level, though human data is limited.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Transmax Tr might interest you if you're exploring resveratrol for obesity or hay fever and want a concentrated form. However, it's not a first choice for heart health or cholesterol.

The biggest caution is if you take blood thinners or medications metabolized by certain liver pathways — you'll need to clear it with your own doctor or pharmacist first, especially given the theoretical enzyme interactions and the lack of large human safety trials.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates

Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.

Likelihood Probable Evidence B
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.

Transmax Tr by Biotivia: Common Questions

Does Transmax Tr by Biotivia interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Transmax Tr has a known interaction with 822 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Transmax Tr contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
What is trans-resveratrol and where does it come from?
Trans-resveratrol is a natural compound (polyphenol) extracted from Polygonum cuspidatum rhizome — commonly called Japanese knotweed. It's an antioxidant that your body may use to help manage oxidative stress.
Does resveratrol really work for weight loss or allergies?
The evidence suggests it's possibly effective for both obesity and hay fever (allergic rhinitis), based on the data we hold. However, it's rated possibly ineffective for heart disease and high cholesterol, so results vary depending on the condition.
What side effects might I notice?
Most common are digestive — diarrhea, loose stools, or stomach discomfort, especially at higher doses. Rare cases have included headache, fatigue, or skin rash, but long-term safety at high doses isn't fully established.
Is it safe to take this while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety data to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using Transmax Tr in pregnancy or while nursing — they can give you personalized guidance based on your situation.
Does this interact with lots of medications?
Resveratrol can theoretically inhibit several liver enzymes, affecting how your body breaks down many drugs. The biggest real concern is with blood thinners. Check your exact medications using the search tool on this page or with your own healthcare provider — most interactions are theoretical and haven't been confirmed in humans.
Why does the label say '98% Trans-Resveratrol' but only 500 mg per dose?
The 98% refers to the purity of the extract itself — meaning the resveratrol content is very high in the source material. Your actual dose is 500 mg of that purified extract per serving.
