What’s inside
Full disclosure
U-Tract Caps is a single-ingredient product containing D-mannose, a type of sugar that your body uses in ways different from glucose. The capsules also contain rice flour, gelatin, and vegetable lubricant as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Leans against
The data we hold shows that D-mannose is likely effective for carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b, a rare genetic condition affecting protein processing. For urinary tract infections (UTIs), however, the evidence rates it as possibly ineffective — meaning current data do not support its use for that purpose, even though it's commonly marketed for bladder and urinary health.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
D-mannose is generally well tolerated in the short term. The most common side effects are bloating, diarrhea, and nausea — particularly at higher doses or with longer-term use.
Taking more than 200 mg per kilogram of body weight in a single dose is more likely to trigger osmotic diarrhea (loose, watery stools caused by extra fluid in the bowel). Long-term safety data are limited, so it's best to avoid this product unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Safety during pregnancy is not well established; there isn't enough data to know either way. Safety while breastfeeding is also not well studied, so caution is advised — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
No known interactions
No interactions are documented in our data for D-mannose. Before starting, use the medication checker on this page to look up any specific drugs you take, and confirm with your pharmacist or doctor if you have questions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with graded evidence leaning against its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
U-Tract Caps may be helpful if you have carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b under your doctor's care, but the evidence does not support it for UTI prevention or treatment. If you're considering it for urinary health, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first — there are other options with stronger evidence.
Anyone taking this product should watch for bloating, diarrhea, or nausea, especially at higher doses.
