What’s inside
Full disclosure
Wobenzym Plus contains 3 active ingredients: bromelain (a protein-digesting enzyme from pineapple), trypsin (another digestive enzyme), and rutoside trihydrate (a flavonoid compound related to rutin). These are combined with inactive ingredients including microcrystalline cellulose, calcium phosphate, hydroxypropyl cellulose, vegetable stearate, an enteric coating, and purified water.
The enteric coating allows the tablet to pass through your stomach without breaking down, so the enzymes can be released in your small intestine.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
The evidence for what Wobenzym Plus actually does is still being figured out. Bromelain has been studied for hay fever, burns, cancer support, nerve damage from chemotherapy, poor circulation, and diabetes — but the data isn't strong enough yet to rate it.
The same goes for trypsin: research on sprains, osteoarthritis, radiation skin damage, wound healing, muscle soreness, and multiple sclerosis hasn't produced reliable proof yet. Rutin (rutoside trihydrate) has been looked at for aging skin, autism, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, respiratory infections, and hemorrhoids, but again, we don't have established evidence for any of these uses in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bromelain is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth in the short term, though long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects are diarrhea, flatulence, stomach upset, and headache.
Allergic reactions (including asthma if inhaled) can happen, especially in people sensitive to pineapple. Trypsin, when taken by mouth with other enzymes, may cause mild-to-moderate stomach upset like nausea, heartburn, and stomach pain.
Rutin is generally well tolerated in food and short-term use, though it may cause headache, flushing, or rash in some people. For pregnancy: bromelain and trypsin should be avoided because there isn't enough safety data.
Rutin is likely safe in food, but supplement doses during pregnancy haven't been studied enough — talk with your doctor. None of these ingredients should be used while breastfeeding due to insufficient safety information.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Wobenzym Plus, double-check if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (Moderate risk with bromelain) or diabetes medications (Moderate risk with rutoside trihydrate). Tetracycline antibiotics may be affected to a minor degree by bromelain.
Trypsin has no known interactions documented in our data.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Wobenzym Plus might be worth trying if you're interested in enzyme-based digestive or anti-inflammatory support, but the evidence for specific health claims isn't strong yet. If you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs (including aspirin), or diabetes medications, check with your pharmacist before starting — these are the biggest interactions to watch.

Wobenzym Plus by Mucos USA Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Wobenzym Plus by Mucos USA contains three active ingredients, and together they interact with a significant number of medications.
The most serious concern is bromelain, which may increase bleeding risk if you're taking blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel). Bromelain has antiplatelet activity — it can thin your blood — so combining it with these medications is a Moderate severity risk.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Rutoside trihydrate (a form of rutin) may lower your blood sugar if you're on diabetes medications, raising the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia); this is also rated Moderate. Bromelain may also theoretically increase levels of tetracycline antibiotics (a Minor concern), though a study in healthy adults found no real difference in blood levels when the two were taken together.
Trypsin, the third ingredient, has no known interactions documented in our data. Altogether, these interactions span 226 individual medications.
Before you start this product, use the medication checker on this page to verify your exact prescriptions — especially if you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or diabetes medications.

Bromelain
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Bromelain may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
There is one case report of a patient experiencing minor bruising while taking bromelain with naproxen. Bromelain is thought to have antiplatelet activity. Whether this interaction is of concern with topical bromelain is unclear. Interference with coagulation of burn wounds has been reported in a patient receiving bromelain-based enzymatic debridement. However, observational research has found that topical bromelain debridement is not associated with increases or decreases in laboratory markers of coagulation when compared with surgical debridement.
Tetracycline Antibiotics
Theoretically, bromelain might increase levels of tetracycline antibiotics.
Laboratory research suggests that bromelain might increase the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics. However, a study in healthy adults reported no difference in tetracycline plasma levels when a 500 mg dose was taken with or without bromelain 80 mg.
Rutoside Trihydrate
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking rutin with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that rutin has hypoglycemic effects.
