Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: yarrow extract in powdered form at a 4:1 concentration, meaning the powder is four times more potent than the raw herb. There are no inactive ingredients (fillers or binders) listed for this product.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for yarrow isn't established in the data we hold. The product is traditionally used for several purposes — tonsillitis, wound healing, eczema, period pain, and yeast infections — but we don't have reliable evidence to rate how well it works for any of these.
If you're considering it for a specific health concern, that's worth discussing with your pharmacist or doctor.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Yarrow by mouth and vaginal use seem well tolerated overall. The main safety concern is topical application: it can cause skin irritation, rash, or hives in some people due to compounds called sesquiterpene lactones.
It's also been reported to cause reactions to sunlight, airborne contact dermatitis, and in rare cases, breathing trouble — one person developed rhinitis and asthma from handling yarrow flowers. Pregnant women should not use yarrow because it may affect the uterus.
While breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data, so it's best avoided.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take lithium, double-check with your pharmacist before starting this product — yarrow's diuretic activity may increase lithium levels. No other interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Yarrow is traditionally used as a short-term herbal remedy, but the scientific evidence for its effectiveness isn't established. The main caution is if you take lithium — check with your pharmacist first.
Avoid it in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. If you're considering yarrow, especially for a specific health condition or alongside any medications, talk it through with your pharmacist.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Yarrow 4:1 Extract Powder by TerraVita Premium Collection interacts with one medication: lithium.
Yarrow has mild diuretic activity — it makes your body shed water — and this can theoretically slow how your kidneys clear lithium. That means lithium could build up in your bloodstream to higher, potentially unsafe levels.
If you take lithium for mood or bipolar disorder, you'll want to check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting yarrow, as your lithium dose might need adjusting.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, if you're not on lithium, no interactions are documented in our data for the ingredients we could check. That said, absence of documented interactions isn't a guarantee none exist — it's always smart to run any new supplement through your current medication list with us.
